Starry Night This Week Test Your Eyesight the Cosmic Way. Northern hemisphere observers can look north and up to see the Big Dipper (also known as Ursa Major) and the horse and rider stars known as Mizar and Alcor. They mark the bend in the Dipper's handle.
This binocular view clearly shows Mizar and Alcor as a pair. Try to see the two stars separately without binoculars! Still want to know more? You should follow us on Twitter, here. Click here for an archive of the past shows. |
