Starry Night This Week

Each week most PBS stations air "Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer", the world's first and only weekly TV series on naked-eye astronomy. The Starry Night images on this page illustrate the show for the week of Monday May 26, 2008. You can view the complete show script, or watch a RealPlayer video of the show.

An Exquisite Moon Visits Two Evening Planets
and a Great Star!

Look west at about 10 pm on June 5 from midnorthern latitudes. The Moon, Mars, and Saturn will line up neatly, pointing you to Regulus and the Beehive Cluster (M44).

Over the next few nights, watch the Moon's crescent grow as it makes close passes to Mars and Saturn.
