Starry Night This Week

Each week most PBS stations air "Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer", the world's first and only weekly TV series on naked-eye astronomy. The Starry Night images on this page illustrate the show for the week of Monday October 29, 2007. You can view the complete show script, or watch a RealPlayer video of the show.

The Moon Visits Three Morning Planets and Two Lovely Stars

The Moon bumps up against Regulus in the southeastern sky on the morning of November 3, 2007, an hour or so before sunrise. How close together will they get from your location?

Venus and the Moon meet in Virgo in the predawn of November 5, 2007. Mercury and Spica put in an appearance if you have a clear horizon.
