The Great Mars / Venus Switch

On March 31st, Venus and Mars will be at the same distance away from the Earth. On April 1st Mars overtakes Venus as the closest planet to us. This view shows the sky at 5:30 AM on March 31st, as seen from mid-northern latitudes.
