A bright Venus greets skywatchers on Groundhog Day. This view shows the sky on February 2nd one hour before sunrise, as seen from mid-northern latitudes.

That same night Jupiter reaches opposition - directly opposite the Sun- and will be the closest and brightest for the year. This view shows the sky on the night of February 2nd one hour after sunset, as seen from mid-northern latitudes.
