"There are few experiences as invigorating as being out in the countryside standing under a canopy of star on a still night. Starry Night conveys that feeling better than any other desktop planetarium"
--New York Times

The Brightest Star in the Night Sky
Each week most PBS stations air Star Gazer with Jack Horkheimer, the world's first and only weekly TV series on naked-eye astronomy. During the week of Monday, February 14, Star Gazer discusses Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky.

A view from Starry Night of Sirius as it appears in the February evening sky, to the bottom left of Orion. Sirius is the main star in the constellation Canis Major.

A look back towards the sun as viewed from Sirius, 8.6 light years from Earth. You can see that from Sirius, the sun would appear as a bright star near the well-known "Summer Triangle".
